Battle of the coaches

IT is going to be a battle of coaches as well when the National Premier League kicks off this weekend.

There has been movement of senior coaches as well some of the youth team coaches have taken the challenge to guide their teams this season.

Renowned coach Kamal Swamy is taking charge of Ba. Swamy had winning stints with the Nadi, Suva and Lautoka teams and has been given the challenge to bring back lost glory for the Men-in-Black after former coach Ronil Kumar left because of work commitment.

Former Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasriri coach Tagi Vonolagi is guiding Lautoka this season.

Former Rewa and Tailevu Naitasiri rep Roderick Singh, who was the coach for the Rewa U19 Youth side, has been appointed Rewa coach while former Lautoka assistant coach Amit Prakash has taken over the coaching duties of the Navua team.

Former Nadroga coach Ramesh Sharma is once again given the task to guide the Stallions while Labasa has the service of former U19 Youth coach Ravneel Pratap who has proved his worth during the Pillay Garments Champion v Champion title win.

Former Ba and national U17 coach Shalen Lal will take charge of the Nadi side while Babs remains the coach of the Suva side.

In the opening round fixture, Labasa will host Ba at Subrail Park in Labasa this Saturday at 1.30pm.

On Sunday Suva will play Rewa at the ANZ Stadium, Nadroga will host

Nadi while Navua travels to Churchill Park to face Lautoka. All matches will kick-off at 3pm. n FIJI FA
