STUDENT athletes competing in this year’s CocaCola Games are in for a treat thanks to the sponsors of the games.

One of the sponsors, Digicel Fiji, while announcing its partnership with Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji Ltd to sponsor the games, has prizes and cash prizes for winners in the annual schools event.

Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Farid Mohammed announced that Digicel Fiji would provide cash prizes in all categories.

“This year our participation in the Coke Games will be in the form of cash prizes of all categories as well as the overall boys and girls winners will walk away with Digicel handsets in terms of data bundles,” he said.

“In as our commitment last year, we said we're all in for Fiji, all in for the community, all in for sports so this has given us an opportunity to work with Fiji Secondary school association and our partners Coca-Cola to bring back Coke Games after a lapse of one year.

“I wish all participating schools all the best in your preparations and look forward to exciting events over the course of the games.”

Mohammed said a cash contribution would be given to the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association to assist the games preparation.

“In total we're looking at $8000 between the cash for all grade winners, the handsets plus the cash preparation towards the Coke Games.”

For the best male and female athletes, they will walk away with a mobile phone and three months free internet bundles.

Digicel Fiji was represented by its regional public relations and sponsorship manager, Satish Narain during the launch of the games torch relay in Suva on Friday.

FSSAA president Vuli Waqa said everybody had been looking forward to the three-day competition.

“It’s going to be very interesting and I believe it will be a very good year for athletics,” Waqa said.

The games will be from April 22-24 in Suva.
