Chand survives battle
THE Neritak Equipment Ltd-sponsored fifth round 18 holes stroke Summer Cup event produced new winners at the Lautoka Golf Club course last Saturday.
Former Lautoka Open champion Prem Chand fought tooth and nail with former Fiji Football Association referee Davendra Mudaliar to notch the A-grade title on a countback. The duo netted 66.
Former Lautoka and national football rep Vinod Chand, likewise edged former Blues coach Dennis Singh for third place on a countback with 67 net. Natabua High School student Sajid Khan was the runaway winner of the B-grade title on 61. He was five shots clean of schoolmates Alex Qiokata and Pritam Singh who both shot 66. Lautoka Muslim Primary School student Aariz Khan nabbed the C-grade title with an impressive 61.
Former Nadi and national football rep Maika Kasami shot a steady 65 for outright second, a stroke clean of Niven Padarath, who settled for third spot on 66. Roland Singh, Jay
Shiu Ram and Arush Ram shared the Juniors spoils. Newcomer Prashant Kumar was rewarded with the beginners category. The NTP award on the second hole went to James Krishna and Asish Kumar on the ninth hole. Krishna also hit the longest drive on the third hole.
LGC executive, Raymond Singh thanked Ram Reddy for the fantastic prizes with the six junior golfers positively rewarded. Reddy, who is the chairman of RSR Group of Companies announced the sponsorship of three more tournaments at LGC for 2021.
The 18 holes individual stroke event attracted 35 keen golfers.
