Football competition intensifies

-

GREETINGS to all.

I am sure all fans will agree that this year’s Digicel Premier League has become bigger and better with the results so far we all have witnessed until round five. The competition level is high as we all love to see the quality football displayed by all the eight teams in the premier level.

We are about to wrap up the first round of the DPL fixtures and it’s not like the past where we can say who will win the title this year as all the teams are evenly matched.

All these is possible through the hard work of the district presidents, officials and players and I commend everyone for their support in making football the winner.

A race is on for the DPL title with another round of interesting clashes this weekend. Viti Water Flow Lautoka will face Moshin’s Insulation Nadroga side in a double-header at Churchill Park in Lautoka. Fans can expect a thrilling encounter between the points table ladder leader Lautoka and bottom placed Nadroga, match at 3pm this Sunday. Rewa and Ba will take the field at 1pm before the clash between Lautoka and Nadroga.

Another exciting match will be played at the Uprising Sports Center where high flying Navua side will take on the in-form Nadi side at 3pm while at the same time Suva will host the unbeaten Labasa side at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The Digicel Women’s Super League will be also played this weekend with three exciting matches. Labasa will host Rewa at Subrail Park in Labasa this Saturday at 3pm while Nadroga will host Tailevu Naitasiri at 2pm at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

The Suva vs Ba match will be played as a curtain-raiser for the DPL match between Suva and Labasa at the ANZ Stadium.
