Lautoka golfers anticipate fireworks

THE sixth round of the NUPS Investment Spice Millers and Grinders-sponsored 18 holes Individual stroke events is expected to produce fireworks at the Lautoka Golf Club course tomorrow.

The fierce competitio­n has produced five different winners in the previous events and Dinesh Narayan, James Krishna, Manwal Kumar, Azahar Khan, and Prem Chand will all have a toe-to-toe battle to record a rare double.

Club executive Raymond Singh confirmed that strong rivalry would be the order of the day because stiff competitio­n is expected.

“The greens and fairways are in top condition with over 40 golfers expected to grace the golf links.” Singh said.

“I will not be surprised if a sixth new winner will emerge after the stipulated 18 holes.”

Pushing for a first Summer Cup win are in-form Dennis Singh, Ram Reddy, Lawrence Naidu, Davendra Mudaliar, Suren Pillay, Gaffar Ali, Asish Kumar, Praveer Chand, Vinod Chand and Anthony John.

“Brothers Ansarul and Sajid Khan start as strong favourites in the Bgrade alongside Adeel Khan, Senitiki Cakau, Pritam Singh, Alex Mako, Vikash

Chand, Bharat Ram, Dr.Vimal Murthi, Paras Mama and Lawrence Naidu.

“The C-grade contenders include the likes of Rajiv Anand, Kelvin Ram, Aariz Khan, Maika Kasami, Reggie Ram, Noor Ali, Navi Vakaruru, Nitin Gandhi, Prashant Kumar, Shiek Munif and Ritesh Prakash.”

The future stars will fight for the juniors title among Steven Leger, Roland Singh, Jay Shiuram, Arvish Ram, Sahil Raj and Aariz Khan.

Prizes will be up for grabs in the A,B,C, Juniors and Beginners categories with a host of novelty prizes, Singh said.
