Jetsetters keep low key approach in second defence

- By SHIRAZ KASIM

THE Jack’s Nadi team is anticipating a titanic battle against Naitasiri in its second defence of the prestigious Farebrother-Sullivan trophy on Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Nadi Rugby Union spokesman Jeff Tamata said the Jetsetters would be battling a fired-up brigade for 80-minutes of footie.

“Naitasiri is a champion outfit and are packed with national reps,” he said.

“They are definitely the favourite on paper with the immense talents in their team.

“Naitasiri have got nothing to lose while we have everything to lose and they will ‘throw the kitchen sink’ at us because when it comes to the Farebrother-Sullivan trophy, they don’t take it lightly; they are very serious in their approach.

“Nadi is a small district compared with Naitasiri because it’s a huge province so the whole of Naitasiri would be coming down on Saturday.

“They recorded a good win last week against Northland and currently lead the points table of the Skipper Cup competition so we are expecting a tough match on Saturday.”

Tamata added Naitasiri would be gunning for revenge after surrendering the Holy Grail of provincial rugby competition to Nadi in 2019.

“I think that would make them hungrier tow rest the Fare brother Sullivan trophy from us .”

Tamata has called on the diehard Nadi rugby fans to provide the much-needed lung power on Saturday.

“This would be a ‘do-or-die’ match for Nadi and I request all our fans to wear blue on Saturday.”

The Ilai Derenalagi-coached Jack’s Nadi rugby team successfully defended the coveted trophy in its first defence against Rewa 25-15 last week and would defend it against the highlanders in a double-header.

The match would kick-off at 3pm.
