Green productivity
FUTURE Farms Ltd has launched a new green productivity project that sets the foundation for companies to use waste in a sustainable way.
The company trading as Rooster Poultry launched the initiative in close collaboration with the National Training Productivity Centre.
Rooster Poultry general manager Stanley Raniga said with the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, companies needed to think outside the box.
“We are launching our organic compost product which we had started working on back in 2017,” he said.
“Through the NTPC, we submitted projects to the Asian Productivity Organisation and one of them was converting chicken litter into a commercial fertiliser.
“This project was approved and then we worked towards creating this value-added product which we have here today.
“We have plans to develop it further into pelleted organic fertiliser which can replace chemical products that are being used in our local farms.”
NTPC director Dr Isimeli Tagicakiverata said the key objective was to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of businesses such as Future Farms Ltd.
“This is achieved through capacity building and adopting new technologies and innovative productivity tools and techniques.
“What we have today is a demonstrationcum-productivity model organisation to showcase the improvements in productivity, quality and environmental performance,” he said.
