UNDER-19 Ratu Kadavulevu School Eels captain and head boy George Naqau said they were cool, calm and collected ahead of today’s Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League grandfinal clash.

“It is a big game, but we have prepared well and are looking forward to it,” said Naqau.

The young skipper from Naioti Village in Yale, Kadavu said they were not taking things lightly especially facing Nasinu Secondary School Panthers who seek their fifth Vodafone Trophy title.

“It is going to be a strong game playing Nasinu who is a champion team and we won’t take them lightly and hope for a good game in what is going to be definitely both physical and mental.”

His counterpart, Panthers captain Ponipate Komai, said they were not looking to the history that had driven them to this grand stage but preferred a divine approach.

“We trust the Almighty has brought us this far through all the games we have played to reach the final,” Komai said.

“Preparation has been good, and the mood in the camp relaxed and not thinking too much of the task ahead.”

Komai said they were aware of the prowess of their opponents from Lodoni and said they did not want to underestimate anyone at this final stage.

“They have been winning their games throughout and are a very elite side. But we will continue to trust the Almighty, as he leads, we will follow.”

Nasinu Panthers take on Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute Dragons in the U15 final at 9am followed by the Ba Pro Dragons and RKS Eels U17 final at 10.30am with the U19 grand final between the Nasinu Panthers and RKS Eels at 12.10pm at the ANZ Stadium today.
