Western giant set for big clash
WESTERN secondary schools rugby league giants Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute is upbeat of a positive outing in its final during the U15 and U17 grades respectively in the Vodafone Trophy Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League at Suva’s ANZ Stadium today.
“We are keeping a low profile,” the school principal Waliki Nasau said.
“We are happy to be tagged as the underdogs however the boys will do the talking on the field of play where it matters the most.
“We are confident of victory because we are not scared of our opponents.”
Nasau said the teams preparations had been top-notch. “My gladiators are going to do their level best to bring glory not only to the school but the entire Western Division.
“I believe in the management and the coaches for enacting the most appropriate game-plans that has been laid for the boys.”
The Yasawa native said the discipline of his students were the indicators for his brigade to write their names in the history books again.
“It is history for the school to be featuring in two grand finals,” he said.
“We will be appearing in the finals for the first time. “Even winning the Vodafone Western Zone Secondary Schools Rugby League trophies in all the grades was a historic occasion for the institution.
“It was the first time in the 43 years of existence of BPFBI to make a cleansweep in the Western Division and then featuring in the national semi-finals.
“It was a milestone achievement for the school and we hope it will replicate in the grand finals tomorrow (today) because that should be a catalyst for the team to bring glory to the Western Division.”
The Dragons battle Nasinu Secondary School Panthers in the U15 final while its U17 team battles favourites Ratu Kadavulevu School Eels.
