- By LUKE RAWALAI

PEOPLE can get their second jab of COVID-19 vaccine eight weeks after their first jab, says Ministry of Health’s permanent secretary Dr James Fong.

While clarifying queries from members of the public regarding a recent directive for people to receive their second jab within eight to 12 weeks after their first jab, Dr Fong said during the eighth week, the potency of the vaccine was high.

“The second jab could be accessible almost anywhere and we advise people to refer to our schedule which is released on the ministry’s Facebook page or aired in the media,” he said.

“All we need is your vaccination card.”

Members of the public who were initially told to access their second jab after eight weeks but could not do so had sought clarification from The Fiji Times.

Narere resident Waqalevu Jiutajia said the advisories of the ministry were confusing at times.

She said the ministry needed to be clear with its advisories to avoid confusion among members of the public.

Valelevu resident Jaspreet Singh also expressed similar sentiments.
