Permit to reopen operations

HAIR salons and barber shops around the country are slowly getting back to operating their businesses under strict protocols.

My Hair Affair Fiji is putting new protocols in place such as sanitising chairs and equipment after each use, to protective gear for employees according to the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport statement on its online social platform.

My Hair Affair Fiji owner Ajneeta Herbert said the new protocols would be the way forward and adopting these protocols was of great benefit to businesses within the industry.

“In the long term, once this pandemic is behind us, we will be able to provide that confidence to our customers that our salons are safe to receive treatments,” she said.

Lagoon Hair & Beauty managing director Xiao Xiao Yue has now embraced the new normal.

The owner was happy to re-employ six staff members once again.

“When I reopened my business, I knew this was our first steps as a closeknit team towards recovery,” she said.

Ms Yue said they had to start again with a positive attitude, used what resources they had and did what they could within their ability.

Vicky Kumar on the other hand was said to be one of the first applicants who was now able to operate in accordance to COVID Safe protocols implemente­d by the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport and Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

“I’m pleased to be back in business after more than a month,” he said.

“Life had been hard and we are really thankful for the ministry for coming up with protocols that allows us to operate in COVID safe manner.”
