MOBIL Oil (Fiji) is assisting the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Fiji Police Force by giving fuel to help support first responders in this second wave of COVID-19 pandemic

According to a statement from the company it will support efforts in the battle to stop the spread of the second wave, including contact tracing of community members who may have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for the disease.

Mobil Oil (Fiji) chief executive officer Adi Tamara said their team wanted to support the response to COVID-19 and help keep Fijians safe.

“Mobil has an important role to play in continuing to supply essential energy to Fiji throughout the pandemic,” he said.

“We are working hard throughout the pandemic response to keep fuel flowing to service stations and other essential businesses and facilities.

“But our team wanted to take that role a step further, and find some way to help the community to stay safe and healthy.

“I am very pleased that we have been able to provide fuel to our first responders, who are on the ground dealing with the situation.”

Mr Tamara was hopeful this fuel assistance would assist them to carry out important tasks such as contact tracing, which was essential to helping us stop the spread of COVID-19 and keeping Fijians safe.

The Mobil team has put in place strict measures to ensure members of its workforce were kept safe and fuel continued flowing to Fiji throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
