COVID-19 pandemic
WITH the ever-increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases recorded in Fiji, it is very much evident that the pressure on our health system and resources are taking its toll. Now it’s hitting us in the West.
The escalating cases and deaths are placing pressure on hospital facilities and resources. The isolation facilities are reaching full capacity as not all can be catered. The home isolation if not adhering to health protocols will endanger many who are in the bubbles.
The ministry is now prioritising to provide life-saving care to those who are at high risk and are severely sick. Deaths are inevitable even if you are in hospital.
The frontline workers are exhausted now. Their calls are that they are burnt out. We can’t blame them. This mental health will deteriorate if we work as frontliners where the risk is very high.
The forecast is to prepare for the worst. The critics and debates are on who have failed remains to be answered, though all efforts are made by all to encounter.
I strongly believe that this fight is everyone’s responsibility. We are failing to adhere to simple health procedures and protocols.
The complacency to be engaged in social gatherings is still number one on the list. Disregarding safety measures of social distancing, wearing of masks, lack of personal hygiene are adding to the reasons for the increase in cases.
Everyone has all knowledge and awareness
on COVID-19 protocols, but we are blindly trying to test this virus. We can’t defeat it if we give all opportunities for the virus to move and live. If all efforts are made to fight collectively, than we all Fijians will win.
Your preventative measures are vital. Life is precious. Take action now, otherwise we will regret forever.
