Perpetrators still at large

-

ANY murdered victim’s family would naturally be not at peace until the killer and the circumstances in which the victim died is known to them.

I believe that understanding the motivation behind the attack and killing is crucial, not only for the investigators looking to make an arrest, but for victims’ families and the public at large.

I know the authorities here are doing all they can with the meagre resources and expertise that they have to solve the cases but not all are solved or brought to closure conclusively. In this respect, I believe what needs to be done must be done to improve the service delivery accordingly.

At this juncture I would like to highlight some of the cases classified as murders that have not been resolved as the perpetrators have not been found so far.

They include the alleged disappearance and killing of the Russian couple whose dismembered body parts were located at Natadola beach in Sigatoka.

Then the body of Salesh Chand, who was a senior company manager was found charred in his burnt company vehicle at the Fiji

Sugar Corporation yard in Lautoka on June 8, 2016.

Another victim, Jia Janvi was allegedly murdered outside her house in Namara in Labasa on July 22, 2020.

Last one that I remember is that of a couple Sesha and Mirdu Reddy whose bodies police recovered from the deceased couple’s home in Lomawai, Sigatoka in February this year.

I think in all abovementioned cases the families are still waiting for answers from police as what happened to the victims and who really killed them.

They do deserve clear answers from them. Thank you.
