DUE to lockdown measures, many shopping outlets across the world are either closed and as a result, it has put e-commerce at the forefront of retail.

Charan Jeath Singh supermarket (CJS supermarket) can be found on VitiKart and customers could also shop for groceries on the online platform.

VitiKart is an online retail service based in Fiji owned by Vodafone Fiji Pte Ltd.

According to website vitikart.com.fj, VitiKart was launched in 2020 and is made up of both large and small businesses in Fiji that offers products to online buyers.

“The platform comprises of smartphone applications for both iOS and Android, a web-based solution www.vitikart. com.fj and provides an online marketing space for large and small businesses to sell to customers all over the Fiji Islands,” reported the website.

“VitiKart has drawn comparison to AliExpress and Amazon as sellers are independent and use the platform to offer products to buyers. It may further expand as a consumer-to-consumer buying and selling portal in time to come, as currently it is limited to business-to-consumer services.”

The website adds the platform allows only pre-approved/pre-authorised sellers to sell products on this platform to registered buyers and the platform is currently available only in the English language.

“Customers outside of the country boundaries could use the service and purchase items on sale to be delivered locally across Fiji,” vitikart reports.

“VitiKart is different from Amazon because it acts only as an e-commerce platform and does not sell products directly to consumers. Vodafone Fiji Limited itself uses the platform to sell various products to online buyers. VitiKart is primarily aimed at Fijian buyers and the Fijian diaspora living overseas.”
