SIBLINGS Mahika Lingam and Akshainie Jignasha Pushp made use of their school break at home with their grandfather Ram
Lingam, who is a retired school teacher.
A Year 2 student of Rishikul Primary School, Akshainie said they miss school, class teachers, and their mates.
“We are eager to return to school, but until school opens we are doing home study,” she said.
Year 1 student of Rishikul Primary School, Mahika Ligam said their study packages were sent to their Viber group.
“Worksheets are printed, and we complete it with the assistance of my grandfather who is a former primary school teacher,” she said.
“Once our worksheets are done, they are filled with the assistance of our grandfather.
“My dad Rajnesh Lingam, who is the head of Department Languages at Nabua Secondary School, takes the responsibility of checking that the worksheets are done.”
Akshainie said after completing the worksheets, similar types of activities are prepared and given to them for revision.
“We help our mum Madhu Lingam during our spare time when she works on her flower and backyard gardens,” she said.
Mahika said recently they had developed a love for flying kites and have purchased kites from their savings during the school break.
“We have also given a little amount of our savings and pocket money towards charity work for my dad - The Balgovind Road Nadawa Humanitarian and Charity Group, which is distributing food packs and sanitary pads.
“We are cautious about COVID-19, and are continuously told about the importance of getting sanitised.
When we go out for an afternoon walk, we sanitizse our hands and wear face masks”.
The siblings are urging their classmates to take good care of their health and physical wellbeing, wash their hands with soap and water and be safe from the COVID-19 pandemic.
