- FIJI RUGBY UNION

FIJI Rugby Union (FRU) is delighted to announce that Rooster Chicken has come onboard to be the major sponsor for match officials for the next three years.

“We thank and acknowledge the Almighty for Roosters, their management and their team and for this great support,” FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor said.

Rooster Chicken has strengthened its relationship with the FRU after supporting the Flying Fijians during the two Test series against the All Blacks last July. O’Connor extended his gratitude to Rooster Chicken for supporting the match officials, who play a very vital role in all levels of Fiji’s domestic competitions from Kaji to Skipper Cup.

“Without the match officials, we have no games. We are so humbled by Rooster’s support in such challenging times.

“Sponsors are crucial for our objectives both on and off-the-field. It is through Roosters’ support that we will be able to assist in the development of match officials from grassroots level. We will also be able to cover their match fees and other operational costs.

“I thank Rooster Chicken for joining the rugby vuvale of sponsors.

“We thank the Fiji Rugby Referees Association for their support and their perseverance. Through this partnership, we will provide match officials with their offthe-field and likewise two pairs of branded on-the-field kits which the match officials will use during all our domestic competitions.”

The match officials, who were scheduled to take part in the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series were to wear their new Rooster Chicken-sponsored uniforms during the three-day tournament at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka starting today.

The event was cancelled yesterday because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rooster Poultry general manager Stanley Raniga said: “Rugby is our national sport and we are delighted to be the official chicken supplier of the Flying Fijians, the Fiji Airways men’s and women’s 7s and the Fijiana,” Raniga said.

“It brings us great joy when Fiji wins in rugby and it is important that Fiji Rugby has the necessary resources to be able to support our teams and the entire country in the national and international stage. This sponsorship was made possible with the support of our major distrib- Ashabhai and Pte Ltd and their resident director,

Harish Patel.”
