Non-clinical practices Bautolu: Police are aware and investigation is continuing

- By SHANELLE PRASAD

THE Fiji Police Force is investigating claims on social media about self-proclaimed practitioners who are charging people to have the COVID-19 vaccine removed from their body using non-medical procedures.

This has been confirmed by police spokesman Wame Bautolu yesterday.

“Police are aware and investigation is continuing,” he said.

“We’re calling on members of the community if they have similar complaints to please call us through our 919 crime stoppers line or come to the nearest police station.”

In a statement, Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete warned people to refrain from resorting to such means.

He said the ministry had received information that a group of men were charging members of the public money claiming to remove the vaccine from their bodies.

The vaccine, Dr Waqainabete said initiated an immune response of new soldiers to fight COVID-19 that’s present in the whole body and not only in the arm.

“Only a certified health practitioner with licence can make a procedure on a patient

with a documented consent,” he said.

“This practice must be stopped and people need to stop resorting to these nonclinical practices.”
