PM: Close to $70 million spent on province

to $70 million has been spent on the province of Nadroga Navosa since 2014, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimaram­a.

“A big part of it was used to develop Navosa. That was one place that was neglected in the past,” he said.

“We used $38 million on your health system and to build the Keyasi Hospital that caters for Noikoro, Nasikawa, Namataku, Beimana, Naqalimare, Navatusila and Nasivikoso in Ba.

“We spent $13 million to upgrade your roads.

“Through this there was access to the village of Nubuyanitu, Draubuta, Nawairabi and Motokabi.

“In addition, the villages of Balenabelo and Navaga have to two bridges. We used $4.9 million for water projects. Villagers of Namada, Jubairata and Nabua have benefited from this.”

He said electrific­ation and water projects were also commission­ed within the province.

“We used $4.1 million for electrific­ation and solar projects in villages. We also used $1.5 million on the electrific­ation of Waiosi, Nasivikoso and Tau.

“We will continue the provision of free education which costs $60 million each year. We also used $3.7 million to build a part of Sigatoka Methodist Secondary School, teacher’s quarters at St Theresa and

Ratu Lalabalavu Secondary School in Malolo and the Navatutoko Bainimaram­a Primary School.

“One of our biggest income earners is agricultur­e.

“We spent $3.2 million for our food security programs under the Sigatoka Developmen­t Program and the assistance of the custodians of Belama.

“A total of $2.3 million for the developmen­t of government services such as the Cuvu Health Centre.”
