State ‘reduced Fiji Four offenders caught in to a beggar nation’ action
THE FijiFirst Government has reduced Fiji to a beggar nation, claims former PM and Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
“Today we are on the verge of bankruptcy. We have to ask for money from Australia and New Zealand
to support our budget, something which never happened in the history of this country,” he claimed during a meeting with supporters in Lautoka this week.
“They’ve reduced us to being a beggar nation and these are facts which they cannot dispute.
“These are not made up story.
“It’s all there documented.
“This is the hard truth and we need to do something about it and not just take it lying down.”
He said as citizens, Fijians had every right to question government decisions because it affected their lives.
“The nation continues to deteriorate like this.
“Nobody will have a future here.
“So we’ve got to stop this rot.
“That can only be done by you, the people.”
Mr Chaudhry began his campaign trail in the Western Division earlier last week.
FOUR known offenders who allegedly attempted to invade the home of a businessman in Nausori early yesterday morning were now in the custody of Nausori Police.
The four were allegedly armed with pinch bars, kitchen knife and steel rod when they were arrested by police at Vuci Rd in Nausori.
Fiji Police Force chief operations officer (COO) assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said the Nausori Police Station received a tip off around midnight that four men were acting suspiciously near the home of a businessman.
In a statement, ACP Khan said all teams in the area including a team from Nakasi and the K9 unit were alerted.
He said the suspects were intercepted before the execution of their planned jobs and they tried to escape from the scene.
He said they were soon arrested and currently in custody at the Nausori Police Station.
Investigation into the incident continues.
