Lautoka holds Nadi

- By ZANZEER SINGH

THE Anginesh Prasad-coached Lautoka team staged a great comeback to draw 2-all against hosts Nadi in the Digicel Premier League at Prince Charles Park on Wednesday evening.

After a scoreless first spell, Nadi broke the deadlock in the 51st minute through Solomon Islander William Komasi on debut.

Another Solomon import, Jaygray Sipakana, doubled Nadi’s advantage via a penalty in the 65th minute.

Nadi goalkeeper Vereti Dickson gifted the Blues with an own goal seven minutes later.

Lautoka was awarded a penalty late in the fixture which was slotted in by Zibraaz Sahib.

Lautoka coach Prasad said he changed the formation after conceding two goals.

He said midfielder Aporosa Yada was pushed into attack.

“We were not worried that Nadi would score a third because we needed to get back in the game,” Prasad said.

“The ploy worked. The boys displayed great fighting spirit. They have been doing that in the past few games.”

Lautoka will travel to Vanua Levu tomorrow to face Labasa at Subrail Park at 1.30pm.
