Prasad is top seed

- By ZANZEER SINGH

THE players for the Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji (BSAF) second National Rankings Championship in Lautoka this weekend have been seeded in the draws.

The players were seeded following the first rankings event in Suva last month.

As a result Jiten Prasad, who won the event, is the top seed followed by Sahil Prasad, Deepak Jai Ram, Rahil Prasad and BSAF president Praneel Singh rounding up the top five.

Singh said all players were ranked after the first tournament.

“Every player who has entered this second tournament has been drawn according to their rankings,” he said.

“So there is no random draw. There will be five frame matches during the eliminations to the semi-finals.

“The final may be played over seven frames depending on the time remaining on Sunday.”

South Seas Club will serve as the host venue while matches will also be played at the Lautoka Club.

Strict dress code will apply. The players will need to wear a bow tie, plain colour long sleeve shirt, dress pants (no jeans) and dressing shoes. Singh said a waist coat was optional.

“The highest break will be added to the ranking points of the particular who achieves it,” he said.

“Matches at the South Seas Club will be played in an airconditioned environment so dress code will apply.”

Isireli Kaci, Jese Salawai, Manav Raj, Shalen Gounder, Tarun Padayachi, Reemal Narayan, Shalendra Raju, Aman Khan, Yogen Prasad, Sahil, Ram, Jiten, Rahil and Singh are on bye in the first round.
