ANURTURER by profession and a mother of two boys – our Mother’s Day shopper is a woman of strong moral principles. She is Arita Sarup of Nausori, a trainer at the Makoi Women’s Vocational Training Centre in Nasinu.
This week Ms Sarup a mother figure to hundreds of students she taught before retiring as a school principal gives us tips about her shopping experience.
Ms Sarup said every child’s achievement in life is also a reflection on their mum.
“There is a saying that behind every successful man is a strong woman but for me behind every successful child is a strong mother,” she said.
“Mother’s Day should be celebrated every day and it shouldn’t be celebrated just once a year.”
She said her two boys have always been affectionate towards her and their care and love grew even more when her husband passed away six years ago.
“To my children I’m a mother and a father,” she said. The retired principal said for Mother’s Day this Sunday, she will celebrate it with family and relatives.
“We will have a small get-together to celebrate Mother’s Day,” she said.
For her message for Mother’s Day she says children should always respect their mothers.
“Nowadays I see people being left at retirement homes and that shouldn’t be the case.
“Children please look after your parents, especially mothers because when you were small, your mother nurtured you and never complained,” she said.
For this Mother’s Day Shopper edition, she shares shopping tips and more on how she shops for her family.
