Global recognition for aquaculture company
PACIFIC Ocean Culture has prioritised its role as a pioneer in the commercial aquaculture sector of Fiji as tantamount to the sustainability of the business and subsequently the Industry.
The company was selected as a winner of the Judges Choice at the Aquaculture Awards 2022, which according to the company, is an incredible achievement on the global stage for the team here in Navua.
POC managing director Paul Christian Ryan was also a finalist in the Unsung Hero Category of the awards this year.
Mr Ryan said they had been reviewed in several categories which we believed was what resulted in this great honour.
He was selected as a Finalist in the Unsung Hero Category thus being recognised by his peers in the top list of aquaculturalists.
“It is indeed an exciting time for aquaculture and I am proud and remain passionate to be part of the industry after three decades. My passion remains with sustaining and regenerating our natural environment whilst providing food security solutions and capacity building.”
He said POC’s manager Philip Kaung had been entered in the Rising Star Category which recognises outstanding talent and encourages rising stars to become tomorrow’s industry leaders.
As a company POC had been entered in the Best Aquaculture Company which recognised sustainable practice, business performance, investment, staff management practices and local community involvement.
“This award substantiates the goals and operational practices of the company and it is a ‘thank you’ from our global peers for a job well done. It encourages the company to embark upon further expansion and growth to align to its principles for environmental best practice.”
Mr Ryan said the global recognition would bring aquaculture practitioners and investors eyes to Fiji, it would create dialogue and inclusion and enhance potential opportunities for both the company and the sector in Fiji.
“Congratulations and huge thank you to the dedicated team at Pacific Ocean Culture who have been part of the journey every step of the way, without them this award would not be possible.”
