Ma’afu House retains RKS inter-house title

MA’AFU House was able to maintain its title as overall winners of the Ratu Kadavulevu School inter-house competitio­n after two-day event ended yesterday at the school grounds in Tailevu.

Remaining undefeated since 2021, the Blues won the competitio­n with 15 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze medals.

Degei House (Yellow) fell short of one gold to finish second with 10 silver and 13 bronze.

Sukuna (Red) House claimed third place with 12 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze medals ahead of Cakau (Green) with 10 gold, 7 silver and 13 bronze medals.

As for the separate divisions, Ma’afu won the senior and sub-junior titles which dominantly secure their hard-earned win. Cakau took the intermedia­te grade while Degei domnated the junior division.

Families and supporters of the different respective houses turned out in numbers to support their athletes and did not let the rain dampen their cheering spirits.

During the handing out of the awards,school principal Pio Veivoli said their next objective was to prepare for the Tailevu Zone and the much-awaited Coca-Cola Games.

He elaborated on the hard work and sacrifice needed to defend their title at the national games.

He personally challenged his atheletes to lift their training standards in order for the school to reach their full potential.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held on July 8-9.

The first round of pool games will be played at Suva’s ANZ Stadium on May 22. The remaining pool games will take place at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park from May 26-29.
