Suva wins at the death
THE Ram Sami Suva rugby side overturned a 7-8 halftime deficit to beat Nadroga 21-18 in an exciting Skipper Cup round six encounter at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.
Suva halfback Sefanaia Seviua scored the lone try for the home side in the first spell while his
Nadroga counterpart Taitusi Lulusinu scored for the Stallions as Nadroga led 8-7 at halftime.
Suva lock Peni Tuiteci proved to be the star of the match scoring two crucial second half tries, the latter a last gasp effort to steal the win for the defending champions.
Nadroga scored one try in the second spell through Jonetani Kunavula while Jack Volavola added a conversion and a penalty.
Suva team manager Nemani Tuifagalele was convinced with the win saying it was much needed.
“It was a must win for us especially against Nadroga. Nadroga is a tough team and we are pleased the boys came out strongly in the last few minutes to grab the win,” Tuifagalele said.
Nadroga team manager Sikeli
Basiyalo said it was a tough game and they were unfortunate to lose. He added that Suva did well to earn the win. Basiyalo added that his side made too many mistakes which they will go back and work on.
