Party leader appoints deputies, trusts them
FORMER national rugby player Daniel Lobendahn has been appointed as a deputy party leader of The People’s Alliance party on Saturday.
He joins party andidates Manoa Kamikamica and Lynda Tabuya.
Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka said he appointed them because he trusted them.
“And we are at the stage of the party where people who come forward for leadership are those that I have personally selected, because I can trust them,” he said.
“The party will grow and then it will be the party’s choice, at the moment, mostly my choice.
“And I thank the party members for allowing me to have that choice; it’s allowed for in our party constitution.
Mr Rabuka said the appointment was allowed for in their party constitution where the party needed to have three deputy leaders.
Mr Lobendahn acknowledged the party leader for providing him the opportunity to serve the nation.
“It’s a partnership with all of you and we need to hear from you, but also we need to work together and remember work brings a reward and a blessing to you,” he said.
In her acceptance speech, Ms Tabuya said the appointment was an achievement for all the women and girls in Fiji.
“I would like to thank our party leader, Sitiveni Rabuka for placing his trust in me and my ability to assist him and my fellow candidates and our supporters on this journey to change,” she said.
“It is my solemn vow to you all to continue working tirelessly in every way I can to be right by our party leader to lead our party to victory and to making Fiji great again.”
