Celebrating the gift of life

- Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Nasese, Suva.

SINCE the inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Nasese, Suva, it has provided 30 children suffering from congenital abnormalities with world-class facilities to conduct surgeries.

A surgical team from around the globe has collaboratively performed numerous heart surgeries. It has led to incredible stories. These medical professionals have been working tediously towards saving the lives of many children.

The tragic and depressing stories of young ones suffering from congenital heart disease (CHD) have made our hearts heavy. The magic has happened in Fiji through the professional team of doctors led by Dr Shetty and pediatric cardio surgeons.

After the opening of this hospital by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Sadguru Sri Madhusudhan Sai, it has become beacon of hope and optimism for many children.

This would not have been possible without the Sai Prema Foundation founders Mahendra Tappoo, Sumeet Tappoo and Dr Krupali Rathod Tappoo, who have made this dream come true into reality.

The construction cost of the hospital is $25 million, and it is the biggest charitable project undertaken by an NGO. The project became a reality after the association teamed up with the Ministry of Health and the Government of Fiji, which had provided the land for this noble cause (https://saipremafiji.com/ sri-satya-sai-childrens-hearthospital-fiji/sai-sanjeevni-fiji/ childrens-heart-hospital/).

This is a gift of life not only for Fiji’s children but for humanity. The op-ed gives a glimpse of their commendable efforts that made humanity proud.

Battle of life

On May 7, 2022, Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital celebrated a function to greet the 30 children who received free heart surgeries within nine days and made dreams come true for many families.

Dr. Krupali (on her birthday) emotionally expressed the story of the seven-week-old child who was detected with a heart problem and was fortunate to have received the heart surgery in time from the pediatric cardio surgeons.

This is a gift of life, not just to the children, but to the entire humanity.

The children, who successfully received medical attention, shall become a part of society and contribute as responsible citizens of the nation similar to others.

Similarly, other emotional stories were narrated that made us think of how fortunate we are to live our lives as normal human beings.

A child’s life is the most precious for parents and parents expressed their gratitude to all the doctors and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital for giving the gift of life to their young ones.

The expert team of hospital doctors planned to conduct 30 surgeries as a target. A team of 21 members from the US tirelessly worked to make this happen. India-Fiji’s medical corporation PM of India Narendra Modi also extended his support for the inauguration of Sai Sanjeevani

Children’s Hospital.

PM Modi congratulated the Fijian Government, PM Bainimarama, Sai Prema foundation and India’ Sai Sathya Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital for “another symbol of our long-standing, mutual love and relationship and this added another chapter in the journey of India and Fiji”.

He expects this hospital will give world-class treatment to thousands of children and will conduct surgeries free of cost.

This service to humanity will inspire many and he stated that this service to mankind and the welfare of living beings are values India and Fiji are built. Conclusion

Big vinaka vakalevu to Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital, PM of Fiji, Sadguru Sri Madhusudhan Sai, Sai Prema Foundation trustees, expert cardio surgeons, nurses and all supporters who transformed the lives of numerous children and needy parents who would not afford cost for such surgery.

The hospital with no billing counter has changed the medical history of Fiji, where its vision of humanity as a global love for every child will inspire many.

The extraordinary contribution without expecting anything tangible in return is the principle of love that many would appreciate.
