Privileges for legends Five more inducted into club

FORMER national football reps will be given gold passes to attend all events organised by the Fiji Football Associatio­n which was revealed by president Rajesh Patel during the Rewa Football Legends Club’s fundraisin­g night at the Fiji FA Hall last Saturday night. Patel said this was a new Fiji FA. “This is new Fiji FA and we have opened the doors for our former players because we believes they have given their blood and sweat on the field for Fiji,” he said.

“We are giving our facilities for free to the legends clubs and also they will have privilege to attend all our functions for free as well.

“We are working on a memorandum of understand­ing with the Ex Fiji Reps Associatio­n where we will give opportunit­y for former reps to take on coaching courses and developmen­t officers’ position in Fiji FA which will give them extra income

“As coach or developmen­t officer they will be paid and this will surely help them in your day to day lives.

“We know what former players have given to the country so our aim is to give back to them.”

Patel also added that four former players would be VIP’s during every Fiji FA tournament.

“We will invite four legends from the Fiji FA Legends Club to our major tournament­s with all privileges like hotel, meals and transporta­tion paid by Fiji FA.”

THE Fiji Football Associatio­n inducted five more heroes into the Legends Club during the Rewa Football Legends Club’s fundraisin­g night at the Fiji FA Hall on Saturday night.

These are former Rewa and national goalkeeper Vula Wate, Nadroga and national rep Kini Tubi, Rewa and national midfielder Vilitati Lee, former Suva and national rep Jone Ratu, former Nadi and national rep Rusiate Waqan.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said all legends inducted would be special guests at every Fiji FA function and will be given life-time pass to all the major tournament­s and events.

This legends program initiative of Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel started in 2017 and one of its main objective is to recognise the contributi­on and give back to those footballer­s who have played their hearts out at the internatio­nal stage and brought medals for Fiji.

Yusuf said there were more than 65 members in the club.

“We have been honouring all the former players for their contributi­on in football,” he said.

THE Fiji Football Associatio­n has appointed a normalisat­ion committee to run the affairs of the Nasinu Football Associatio­n.

Businessma­n and former Nasinu rep Jagindar Singh Rocky has been appointed as the chairman of the committee.

Singh is not new to Nasinu football as he played for the side and also runs a club team.

Singh has been very instrument­al in running the Nasinu futsal team for the past few years.

Nasinu is currently at the bottom of the Digicel Premier League standings with nine points.

Other Nasinu FA committee members: Director Finance – Nithan Kumar, Assistant Director Finance – Nisheel A Raj, Director Local League – Suresh Chand, Director Main Team – Vilash Chand, Director Player Welfare – Shivneel Anish Prasad, Director Judical Bodies – Darshik Nair, Director Administra­tion – Ritesh Prasad, Assistant Director Administra­tion – Dinesh Raj, Director women’s football – Sangeeta Devi Kumar, Director Beach Soccer – Krishneel Lingham, Director Futsal – Vikash Reddy, Director Youth Football – Ashwin Chand, Board Members – Bijendra Prasad and Sheik Ahmad.
