Swamy says Nadi can win

-

THE All in One Builders Nadi FC coach Kamal Swamy believes they have a team to win the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT which kicks off this Sunday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva before the tournament goes to Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka a week later.

“Certainly we are in a pool of death where we will be playing Navua, Rewa, Lautoka and Labasa,” Swamy said.

“Nadi is going into the tournament as underdogs and we have a solid game plan which we will be executing.

“We had a slow start in the league but then we made some minor changes within our strategies and then we started to win games so that’s something we have to give during the tournament.

“This year we have some new bunch of boys and I think our strength will depend on our fitness.”

Swamy said the loss to Suva in 2020 still haunted them and they had already set their sights on the title this year.

“We don’t want to rush into the games because that’s where we forget our game plan and start to go our own ways,” he said.

“We are in an equally tough pool and know things won’t be easy for us, yet the players are eager to win the tournament.

“Certainly we are in a pool of death where we will be playing most Western teams and only one from the North. Most of our boys were part of the 2020 loss to Suva and it was an eye opener final for us. The lessons and losses from the league are boosting the boys.”

Nadi starts its campaign against Navua this Sunday at 1pm. They will face Lautoka at 7pm on Thursday May 26 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. On Friday, May 27, Nadi will play Rewa at 4pm. Their final pool match will be against Labasa on Sunday, May 29 at 8pm.
