Suva set to host giant Ba, aims for title

DEFENDING Digicel Fiji FACT champion Ram’s Cleaning Services Suva FC will host RC Manubhai Ba FC in its opening group B match this Sunday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

President Ritesh Pratap said there was a lot of pressure as a defending champion.

“The pressure is on us as the defending champion and we understand it will not be an easy task to defend our title,” Pratap said.

“We have been training well and our coaching panel is doing well to work on some of the weaknesses we have seen during the DPL.

“We have a very good set of boys and I have faith in them.

“Suva has been doing good in the DPL so far. We conceded some unwanted goals and that did affect our points because we had to go for draws.

“We want to be consistent in our performanc­e and we will take each match as it comes,” said Pratap.

THE rule for under-19 players featuring for the district teams continues in the 2022 Digicel Fiji Football Associatio­n Cup Tournament (Fiji FACT).

This year Fiji Football Associatio­n made it mandatory for all districts to allow one U19 player to start the match and the other one on the bench.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that they have informed the districts of the rule.

“We will not have any changes in the tournament, the rule continues for our young players,” said Yusuf.

“We want to give our U19 players more exposure and experience playing in such environmen­ts.

“So far all the U19 players have been doing wonders in their respective districts as seen in the Digicel Premier League this season and we are sure they will continue in the tournament.”
