Games date remains

- By FILIPE MARAYAWA

THERE is no change to the dates of the Coca-Cola Games this year.

The Games had been previously confirmed to be held from August 4-6 pending on further discussions between organisers and the Ministry of Education.

Coca-Cola Games executive Lawrence Tikaram said they needed to have a meeting with officials from the Education Ministry before any announcements would be made.

“At the moment, all venues are fully booked. You have soccer, international Test matches for rugby and other sports at the (ANZ) National Stadium next month,” Tikaram said.

“We will first have a sit down with the Ministry of Education to iron out these issues before any big decision is made.”

Tikaram said a change in date would only happen if any sporting body provided leeway for the Games.

“Unless an association provides us with an avenue for it to be held at the stadium from July 7th-9th then we will go ahead.”

It will be a busy month for schools and athletes as the Zone competitions will be held this month.

In the Northern Division, Macuata One will have its competition on the June 9-10 at All Saints Secondary School while Macuata 2 will have its competition at Labasa Muslim College on the same day.
