US-based company joins the local market
UNITED States-based Payless Car Rental is introducing its services in Fiji.
The company which has approximately 120 rental locations in the US, Canada, Europe and South America has partnered with Asco Motors to bring its high end rental services to local and international travellers.
A subsidiary of America’s Avis Budget Group, the new rental service will offer high to mid end rental services for travellers.
Avis Budget Group Pacific Network Development and Franchise Relations director Ann Dawson said there was a demand for rental services for the budget conscious traveller.
“We will go live on July 1 in two locations in Nadi and in Suva and as fleet becomes more available we will expand to other areas of Fiji,” she said.
“We feel that the market has opened for a second tier operator so not necessarily available at the airport but it is a new product offering really for the cost conscious consumer both in business and in leisure. It is a strictly an off airport option so you will save costs in respect to that and it is being targeted to the local, leisure corporate that is really budget conscious.”
Asco Motors Fiji acting CEO Ronald Kumar said the huge demand for rental services was a major reason for introducing the brand to Fiji.
“There are so many customers that are enquiring about prices that are much below what Avis is offering so we did not have anything,” he said.
“So Payless is obviously part of the Avis Group so we thought to bring this franchise which can offer quality cars at the same service level but at a fraction of the price.
“We believe that getting Payless here holds a lot of significance especially for our domestic market who obviously value customer service.”
Payless Car Rental was founded in 1971 in Spokane, Washington. It was acquired by Avis Budget Group in 2013.
