Nasinu’s perfect ‘touch’

THE Nasinu Touch Rugby Associatio­n had its fourth round of competitio­n at the Assemblies of God High School ground on Saturday as teams are in the hunt to win top honors.

There had been growing interest in the sport in the past weeks and players from the Suva Touch Associatio­n were seen at the grounds watching and cheering their friends on.

NTRA president Taniela Tagicakiba­u said they were impressed with how the competitio­n had been faring so far.

“We initially started with seven teams in our first week,” said Tagicakiba­u.

“Now we have 29 teams playing in different categories and it is a good sign for Nasinu. We have seen an increase in the skill level during these four weeks and it is good to see the interest in the sport growing. The amount of girls and women coming to take part is a good sign for us as we would like to include more females in the near future.”

In the men’s competitio­n, Five Stars won by default over

Caubati Sixers, Greyburn Heights pipped Nadawa Spartans 5-3, Kacau held on to win over Flamingo 3-2 and Silver Bros defeated Waivure 3-2. In the Masters’ category, Barbarians drew with Waivure 2-2 while Silver Broz also drew with Flamingo 3-3. In the Mixed category, Flamingo drew with Greyburn Heights 5-5 while Nadawa Spartans defeated Kacau 4-1.
