THE PaR nz Golfing Holidays ‘Bula Reunion’ golf tournament at the Denarau Golf Course in Nadi has attracted more than 130 golfers.

After three long years, PaR nz Golfing Holidays is to host the golfers and partners at the Sheraton Denarau Fiji.

PaR nz Golfing Holidays, formed in August 2000, regularly brought over 250 golfers and partners to Denarau to play golf, in two annual tournaments.

The Denarau Women’s Golf Classic was a pairs tournament for the ladies and the Sheraton Villa Challenge was a four person teams event played over four days, scored in the original ISTAS (scrambled) points system.

Both tournaments were originally booked out in 2020 and 2021 but were cancelled because of the world-wide pandemic.

This year is the first that PaR nz Golfing Holidays directors Denise Langdon and Kim Buckley were able to host again in Denarau, in what is a special ‘Bula Reunion’ tournament.

Pairs of men, women and mixed teams have entered from Australia and New Zealand.

After two rounds, Cheryl Collier and Marietta Duffy-Burgess (Tauranga, NZ) lead with a combined 225 modified stableford points, ahead of Jane Williams (Masterton, NZ) and Christine Randall (Denmark, Aus) by seven points.

The husband and wife team of Nigel Fannin and Rosie O’Brien (Fairview, NZ) are in third position with 217 modified stableford points.

Joanne and John Burt (Te Puke, NZ) and Denise Davies and Anne-Marie Clare (Ngahinepouri, NZ) both tied for 4th place, with 215 points.

The golfers had a day off yesterday with round three to be played today and the final round scheduled for tomorrow.
