Equal playing field for women

PLAYING rugby league since school until now has been the best experience for Adi Sokula Waqa.

She is looking forward this weekend to play in the national quarters of the Fiji National Rugby League Women’s Premiershi­p.

Adi Sokula has been involved in rugby league since high school at Dudley High School, and she now plays for the USP Raiders women’s team and is very enthusiast­ic in her fitness, and her training schedule.

She studies at the University of the South Pacific in Bachelor in Civil Engineerin­g.

Adi Sokula was grateful and has no regret in playing rugby league because she manages to make a lot of friends and it has boosted her confidence.

“Nowadays the support for women playing rugby has been tremendous, and we see it as the opportunit­y to be equal in our rights and culture,” says Adi Sokula.

She also grateful that she has the support of her family.

The USP Raiders women’s and youth teams have qualified for the top eight of the competitio­n this weekend at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
