Courts IDC gains momentum!

-

THE 2022 Courts IDC is gaining momentum.

On day one, Nadi and Nadroga, Suva and Navua and Labasa and Rewa drew 1-1 and 0-0, respectively.

However the Men in Black thumped Lautoka 3-0. The youth players in the Ba team were impressive as they made a perfect start to the tournament.

Heartbreaking news

Teams from the North, Bua and Seaqaqa, made dream starts. On day two, Navua impressed and this excited ardent fans, including Rohit Deo.

Navua held Nadi to a 1-1 draw. Nadroga went down fighting to Suva 4-0, while the Men in Black came from behind to hold Rewa to a draw.

The last match ended in pain

JUST as the world was still keeping tabs with developments around the Ukraine and Russia, there is heartbreaking news from Thailand.

A man is believed to have taken the lives of about 36 persons including 24 children who were killed in cold blood.

Reports indicate that these beautiful and innocent children were sleeping when the gunman abruptly ended their lives.

Why and how on Earth did this happen in a beautiful place like Thailand?

The poor parents and guardians had no idea about what this day mean for them.

Why did this man take it out on children, but why? Ones heart and prayers go out to the families who have lost loved ones in this massacre. and heart break for Labasa fans as the Babasiga Lions lost 4-2. Lautoka put behind their 3-0 loss to Ba and secured three points to stay in contention for the Holy Grail.

Yesterday, teams’ fates were decided as Navua played Nadroga, Suva battled Nadi, Rewa took on Lautoka and traditional rivals Labasa and Ba entertained

In the end, I did not bother to report more updates as it was simply heart breaking. Blessed weekend and do enjoy the company of loved ones as we never know what tomorrow brings.

Rewa’s performance

THE Rewa football team has gone out of form now for the past two months. I believe senior reps are playing garbage football. Coach Marika Rodu has lost the plot and the team looks unfit.

Buying players from Solomon Islands for IDC showcases how far Rewa FC has dropped this season. When you do not trust your own reps, the whole team will underperform.

Gabriele Matanisiga is a striker and fans.

However, I miss the 60-minute fast pace football, which was a hit in the 80s and 90s - a time when we beat our Pacific Island neighbours and even downed Australia.

That era also saw the growth of teams such as Savusavu, Tavua, Nasinu, Nadroga, Tavua and Levuka. The standard of not a defender. Playing him at CB position is costing Rewa goals and games. Marika Rodu has not seen this and the team is in turmoil.

Laced with senior reps such as Seta, Tevita and Kavaia the team continues to draw games and loss important matches to teams like Labasa in BOG finals.

The Rewa team is out of form and luck since the Fiji FACT.

In tournaments you do not change your best 11. Here Marika Rodu keeps changing his best 11 and I believe he has no idea who his best 11 is. Rewa team is not even using flanks any more to overlap with their left and right backs. Aging wing backs and wingers is a concern for the team.

Tevita Waranivalu isn’t quick any more, he has put on weight. Rewa needs some soul-searching in their sqaud ahead of OFC and 2023 season. Playing high and long balls is not football any football has declined, but football lovers continue to support the sport.

The huge crowd at the HFC Bank Stadium is evident of this passion and love that fans have for football in Fiji. Isa, I wish I could rewind time to the 80s and 90s era!

RAJNESH ISHWAR LINGAM Nadawa, Nasinu more. Rewa needs to bring back it’s method of 2010 season, where they used to wreak havoc on the flanks.

The Rewa team is an eye sore to watch. It feels like watching a Jose Mourinho and Manchester United team.

To all those football players out there, please work on your fitness and eat proper food. Sleep well and play good football. Stop playing unstructured football.

Rewa football needs to work on finishing and decision making of players. Very pathetic performance from Rewa FC in the three major tournaments this year. Winning the league was a fluke.

I am a Rewa fan and the league was a fluke.

I believe the whole Rewa team has been very bad this season. Maybe go back and watch the 2010 IDC final on how Rewa team used to play.
