Soccer, child abuse World Cup ‘22

-

THE FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicked off on Sunday (Qatar time) with great entertainment.

This international event had been anticipated by soccer fans all over the world. It has finally begun.

The opening ceremony captivated me, especially with Morgan Freeman hosting the event.

Mr Freeman, an American actor, director and narrator kicked off the opening ceremony by narrating the segment “The Calling” at Doha’s AlBayt stadium.

As he narrated the lines, “we gather here as one big tribe and Earth is the tent we all live in,” I literally felt the goosebumps.

However, the Qatar football team failed to impress the home crowd and loyal fans in their opening match against Ecuador.

Qatar is the first ever host nation to be World Cup debutants since Italy in 1934.

Unfortunately Qatar went down to Ecuador by two goals to nil.

Early Tuesday morning, around 1am (Fiji time), England created a major upset by thrashing Iran 6-0. Later on, Netherlands defeated Senegal by 2-0 while USA and Wales ended their first match in a 1-all draw.

If the beginning is so good, one can just imagine what its finale would be like.

Another motivation for soccer fans to go early to bed and wake up earlier every morning.

Despite the fact that my favourite team, Italy, did not qualify for this World Cup after being defeated by North Macedonia in the qualifying rounds, I will be betting on my second favourite team, France.

France will undoubtedly defeat Australia in Group D’s second match on Wednesday morning.

Bonne chance France!
