A THREE-DAY OFC/MA Grassroots Football Coaching Certificate course ended last Sunday at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Fiji FA coach educator Yogendra Dutt said the participants were from the southern zone.

“We had around 17 participants who had the passion and love for football and wanted to peruse their career in coaching,” said Dutt.

“The Grassroots Football Coaching Certificate course has been designed to assist coaches, teachers, and volunteers to provide appropriate and enjoyable football activities for children aged 6-14 years.”

Dutt says football provides children with the foundation for establishing a healthy lifestyle and gaining positive personal experiences while developing their football skills.

play football for enjoyment.

“The coaches who attended now know what kind of activities and games to use for this age group.

“That will make our job a little easier when the players come up to the older age group as we will not have to teach them the basics anymore.”

Dutt said the coaches could continue on the pathway, which progresses through the various steps to an A Licence and covers all levels of the game.

Many of the participants were from districts affiliated with the McDonald’s Talent Development League.

“They will have the chance to put what they had learned into practice during the McDonald’s Talent Development League which will mainly focus on grassroots development,” said Dutt. ■
