MORE than 200 guests enjoyed an exciting menu of Christmas themed cocktails and canapes at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort to ring in the festive season celebrations last Thursday.

The resort hosted a grand scale festive celebration of live entertainment by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMR) and guests were also treated to jovial Christmas carols by the Navatulevu Methodist Church choir from Narewa Village.

Marriott International vice president for the Pacific Islands Neeraj Chadha said the day’s festivities also included anniversary celebrations of the reopening of Fiji’s international border.

“Exactly one year ago, Fiji opened its international border to our international visitors after being closed for two years and four months later the stunning new beating heart of Fiji was opened,” he said.

“Christmas is an important time for family and friends to come together for celebration, enjoyment and share goodwill with one another.

“We are grateful to our business partners that have been supportive during the pandemic and thank you to our loyal guests for choosing to stay with us.

“We’ve built our little Sheraton Community that is growing quickly as our associates display the spirit to take care of guests.”

The resort also had a grand traditional-inspired edible gingerbread bure made from 123kg of cookie dough and decorative candy, led by the pastry team in collaboration with the resort engineering team to build a towering at 4.8m2 that took over five days to make.

The evening ended with a Christmas medley performance from VOU Dance Fiji and entertainment by the Nalaga Band.
