Change and e-Ticketing
FijiFirst own goal
IT seems to me that the general secretary of the FijiFirst party has made an “own goal” against his own team under the rules of the game which he wrote himself.
Although Mr Sayed-Khaiyum polled 22,524 votes, he ousted himself from Parliament in favour of a much lower ranking FFP candidate who polled only 590 votes. The FFP voters whom I have spoken to can’t understand why Mr SayedKhaiyum left Parliament. They are angry that they wasted their vote and are now unrepresented by him in Parliament. They didn’t expect their vote to benefit Mr Tuicolo.
In my opinion Mr Sayed-Khaiyum can’t be trusted by the voters, and that his erratic behaviour makes him more of a liability than an asset to his party.
Perhaps it’s time for the financial members of FFP to change their party secretary if they want to have a better chance of winning the 2026 General Election.

Congratulations
I CONGRATULATE the citizens of Fiji for their new Government.
It was nail-biting during voting in Parliament, to decide who would form the government. It was SODELPA who were the king-makers and they did what the country most needed.
Now that there’s a new Government, the country should not expect that changes will happen overnight.
There’s lots of hard work ahead for every member in the Coalition Government and I know they can get things in order as they have capable people.
In the Prime Minister Mr Sitiveni Rabuka’s good hand, Fiji will be a better place given time.
Good bless Fiji.

e-Ticketing
I’M glad that the Minister for Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has indicated that the eTicketing system would be reviewed.
A passenger taps his e-Ticketing card on the machine. Despite the many suggestions from the public, the previous government forced the system through just like many other changes it introduced.
One such suggestion is the implementation of the cash system to run parallel to the e-ticket with the cash fare set at a slightly higher rate to encourage the use of the e-ticket system.
The change was so abrupt that people could not adapt for a long time and to add to their woes, the lack of or nonfunctioning recharge machines created difficulties rather than advantages for an innovative idea such as this.

Time for change
THE members of the Opposition party who were in government and had enough time and resources, not forgetting the freebies which they were giving out every now and then, were not able to take out the solution for flooding around Fiji.
They are now quick to raise their eye brows on the lack of help provided by our Government.
Our Government, which was in opposition before, continued to raise their concerns on the fixing of flooding issues to no avail.
How time and tide changes everything. One thing is for sure, the new Government will provide solutions to all these types of loopholes clogged in that “pipeline”.
Thanks to the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Prof Biman Prasad for assuring his continuous help for those affected.
To the Opposition, how does it feel to have a taste of your own medicine?
Enjoy.
