Back-to-back losses to Argentina Demand to perform
SADLY, two weeks in a row, both in Los Angeles and Vancouver, our men’s 7s team failed to neutralise the sustained Argentinean explosive pace, aggression and physicality.
Both times, seeing us lose to the Pumas 7s side, shows our belief waning.
These are frustrating back-toback losses to them.
Uruguay taught us a good lesson in pool play in Vancouver.
We did not learn from that loss. Our newer boys, in my humble view, are our liability.
Jerry Tuwai cannot do it alone. He lacks immediate support at sister Holika to sit in a bonfire with Prahalad so that he may die. This did not happen. Prahalad was saved by the Lord and Holika perished thus signifying the victory of good over evil.
Traditionally people burn the effigy of Holika a day earlier to mark the beginning of the Holi Festival. The ashes are collected and used to smear the faces of people as a ritual. In a rural setup groups of faag singers accompanied with musical instruments (dholak, manjeera, dhantal etc) move from door to door to sing, and bless householders. May this year’s Holi festival be a success story for all.
DEWAN CHAND Namadi Heights, Suva tion to those thugs who habitually like to vandalise the benches at the iconic Marine Drive as to what do you accomplish by involving yourselves in such unwarranted and sneering behaviour?
I feel for the authorities who attempt to repair and restore the damaged facilities at the earliest, but only to unfortunately ascertain that the seats, picnic tables and drinking taps have been ripped apart again by the low life vandals the following day.
Would it be feasible for the Lautoka City Council to mount elevated cameras at strategic points along the seawall so that these uncultured delinquents with zero city pride could be apprehended?
If this is a practical possibility, please ensure the cameras are well secured as someone under the influence may challenge to stone and deface them as well!
Sadly, Marine Drive is progressively sprouting into a sanctuary for the city’s ever swelling street dwellers, regular drinking parties, drunkards and glue sniffers.
I can now barely appreciate my daily early morning walks without being interrupted by a dishevelled looking individual asking for some “spare”.
And the police seem to be grossly incompetent and ineffective in dealing with such developments. NISHANT SINGH Lautoka
