DV service provider
ANY congratulatory message on International Women’s Day it should be directed to all women out there and secondly to all domestic violence (DV) service providers and hardworking staff such as those at the FWCC, FWRM, Femlink, Empower Pacific, Fiji Police Force, MSP, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women & Children, UN Women, judicial department and so forth.
To all the latest critics both local and overseas, you know who you are, why don’t you voluntarily join these providers for a day to see the kind of
LETTER OF THE YEAR
work they do in our diverse communities?
Just a typical example as follows: I volunteered to join and support our FWCC Nadi team led by Sereima Jesoni and Jamata Kini who were invited to do awareness on GBV (gender-based violence) to the recent Methodist Church of Fiji divisional superintendent and chief steward retreat at Narewa Village church on Wednesday 22/02/23. Ms Jesoni’s presentation was captivating, on point and captured the attention of her audience. This is just an example of our service providers’ response to various communities.
So, to pass negative comments against these DV service providers is a cheap shot, unwarranted because most of them have been doing this, year in year out, for the past 30 plus years.
Oh, and thank you to The Fiji Times for your headline on 08/03/23, because it certainly contributes to the change that we are trying to advocate all these years together with these DV service providers!
