$3b in transactio­ns

VODAFONE Fiji’s MPAISA platform is projected to generate $3 billion worth of income this financial year.

Speaking in Lautoka yesterday, Vodafone Fiji head of eCommerce and Digital Financial Services Shailendra Prasad said the program remained one of the country’s widely used payment platform.

“As one of the key players in the eBusiness and fintech market, Vodafone is at the forefront of driving the digital economy transition in the country,” he said.

“As an example, our MPAiSA mobile wallet solution which nobody gave a chance 10 years ago is now the most widely used payment platform in the country and is expected to process around $3b in total transactio­ns this financial year.”

He said the company was also rolling out new online programs.

“We have launched an online eCommerce platform known as Vitikart, that allows a secure online platform for MSMEs and women entreprene­urs to venture into online business without worrying too much about whether I will get my money, how will I market my products.

“This is part of package that comes with becoming a merchant on Vitikart.

“We continue to partner with global organisati­ons like UNCDF in critical forums and panels to share and learn from digital and financial literacy programs for the benefit Fijians.”

He added that the company’s charity arm,Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation has also been able to assist a large number of communitie­s since its inception in 2004.

“Through your ongoing commitment and partnershi­p, our philanthro­pic arm has made over $30 million in social investment around the country to better the lives of our people over 19 years.,” he said.
