REALB committed to breaking gender barriers

WOMEN’S unique insights and perspectives are recognised by the Real Estate Agents Licensing Board. It says these women’s contributions promote diversity and inclusivity in the industry.

In a statement, REALB said in line with the theme for International Women’s Day of Digital: Innovation and Technology for gender equality, the company was committed to raising greater awareness in the fight to create a more inclusive and equitable industry for all.

REALB said in 2008, the company approved its first five female agents’ licences, allowing women to join the real estate sector, as an initial step towards its longerterm commitment to gender diversity.

This was a huge stride towards breaking gender barriers in a traditionally maledominated field and REALB is extremely pleased to have a diverse team of real estate professionals.

“There are currently 84 active agents in the industry, of which 24 are women, compared to 26 women out of 87 agents last year and 17 out of 83 agents in 2021,” REALB stated.

“For salespersons, 128 of the 319 registered are female, a decrease from the 175 females registered in 2021 and 2022.

“For branch managers, three of the current seven are female, compared to four in 2021 and three in 2022.”

REALB added there were gender gaps in the industry and it was important to continue promoting women empowerment by celebrating their achievements especially those who had stepped up to take leading roles in male-dominated industries.

REALB registrar Peni Komainavoka said the board was proud to highlight the achievements of its three female board members who represented the voices of women at all levels of the industry.
