Fijians to access free health scheme online
FIJIANS can now access a Free Health Scheme online portal on an integrated digital platform which has been launched in a public-private partnership between FijiCare Insurance Ltd and the Ministry of Finance’s Health Care Schemes.
The online portal houses information regarding all the government approved general practitioners, dental practitioners and medical laboratories.
The portal also enables Fijians to locate a government-approved private health facility near them for free medical care where applicable.
The online portal reportedly has all the relevant information regarding the free health scheme.
This not only reduces the paperwork for this government approved private health providers, but also promotes efficiency as the fully online platform is supposedly more convenient, allowing all relevant information to be centrally located.
FijiCare executive director Avi Raju commended the Government saying that “public, private partnership and the introduction of initiatives like free health schemes amplifies the important role private sector plays in bringing Fijians accessible and affordable healthcare. FijiCare takes pride in introducing innovative solutions that have technology at the helm of service delivery”.
Assistant Minister of Finance Esrom Immanuel stated, “digital transformation is crucial for any country to better serve its people, and when governments are dedicated to digital innovation and sustainability it complements and promotes the effort to achieve all the Sustainable Development Goals”.
“The launch will streamline processes within the schemes and improve operational efficiencies. We thank FijiCare Insurance Ltd for developing the online portal which will bring in much needed operational efficiencies,” he added.
The Free Health Schemes online portal was officially launched by Mr Immanuel on March 28, 2023, at the FijiCare Office.
