TRISHALA'S PIECE OF HEAVEN

- By SHANELLE PRASAD — shanelle.prasad@fijitimes.com.fj

IT was through work that Trishala Goundar and Ashish Prasad crossed paths and with the blessings of time, their meeting eventually turned into love.

The pair used to liaise over the phone quite often when Ashish started work.

“On the day we met it was sunny and hot and because he was quite tall, one of the things I remembered was focusing on a tattoo on his right arm. I shook his hands while admiring it (tattoo),” Trishala shared.

“Since that time, he would flirt a bit over the phone, but I don’t think he would’ve asked me out unless I did as he had a shy personality.

“I fell in love with Ashish a few weeks after we started dating. I fell in love with how he was always there for me, with his constant support and calm manner.”

The pair has been together for four years now. They had their legal marriage last year and the traditional ceremony was held on August 26, 2023, at the Royal Events Centre.

Unlike most relationships, Trishala had been the one who popped the “would you marry me” question to her husband.

“I had booked Warwick for a night’s stay and with the help of the amazing staff there I arranged a proposal for my better half.

“I truly believe in equal rights and thought why shouldn’t men be spoilt in the way we women want to pampered.

“He came in the room a few minutes after me and was totally speechless, I finally got a yes from my darling gentleman.”

While the wedding planning was quite hectic, both families looked forward to it. With Ashish’s constant support and quick decision, the wedding spawned less tension.

“We didn’t see each other for the whole five days before the wedding, no video calls, dodging photos and live stream on Facebook from either side. It was very difficult,” Trishala said.

“This was a big Indian wedding in both our families after quite some time. We had the tilak ceremony on August 21 and then prayers leading up to the haldi and chandan ceremony for me as I’m of a South Indian descent and telwaan and bhatwaan ceremony for Ashish, who is of North Indian descent.”

Trishala was dressed in her silk saree from Aza, with a custom-made blouse made from Chennai, India while Ashish’s outfit was made by F2Fusion Fashion from India.

“I was only looking forward to seeing my partner on my wedding night and when I walked down the aisle to him, that moment was priceless for me. “Seeing him and all the emotion in his eyes was something I would treasure till the end. “Getting married isn’t easy, but with the right person nothing seems impossible. I found my person with whom I can’t wait to spend the rest of the life. He is my piece of heaven.”
