Claudius defends title
ABOUT 400 athletes participated in the Marist Brothers High School inter-house competition at HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.
Head coach Antonio Raboiliku said about 100 athletes were to be chosen to participate in this year’s zone competition, and probably 70 to 80 for the Coca-Cola Games competition.
“It has been 10 months since we have stepped again in the HFC Bank Stadium and testing the new tracks is something good for the athletes,” said Raboiliku.
Raboiliku emphasised there will be a lot of schools ready to battle, for the title this year.
“As defending champions of the Coca Cola games it will be the hardest as we know all school will try and get the win.
Despite facing challengers in preparing the team this year, he is willing to work with the new students.
“It is also a challenge that most of our senior athletes last year have left for tertiary institution, and we must try and fill up the gaps and do better like we did last year.”
“Right now, we have 50 per cent of the team that took part last year and putting another 50 together will not an easy task, we will take it one step at a time.
“The students have really showed their determination in the competition this year, and we are looking at a good zone, and CocaCola Games this year.
