Talking about fashion

I’M not a fashionista, or pretend to be one, by any stretch of the imagination. My beautiful wife and two boys have always had this creative air mainly thanks to their dear mum. Thankfully, they’ve had a huge say in what clothes and shoes to buy and have been extremely helpful in dressing me too. I also get quite a lot of hand me downs from my two boys because I’m about their size when it comes to shirts and polo tops. Of course I’m eternally grateful and thankful to them for their creative air because my taste in fashion is pretty ordinary when it comes to mixing and matching colours. However, since watching what I would describe as one of the most moving and historically important movie series I’ve ever seen, my appreciation for fashion and what it has done to inspire hope in a world of hopelessness has left me stunned and speechless. Set during the World War II in Nazi occupied France, this epic 10 Part Series called, The New Look, will have you riveted to your chair.

It not only captures the horrors of that dark period in our history, but also brings to light what the fearless fashionistas had to overcome to bring hope to their people at a time of great suffering, persecution and hopelessness. Australian actor, Ben Mendelsohn, plays an Oscar winning performance as the lovingly humble yet inspiringly ingenious Christian Dior who turned the fashion world upside down with his dream creations. Coco Chanel plays an incredible role in this series too, together with other fascinating fashion icons you’ll recognise from the global world of the rag trade.
