Naitasiri Secondary up for the challenge
WE are ready for any challenge that may come our way at the upcoming nationals, says head coach of Naitasiri Secondary School Ratu Waisea Drakusiwale.
Their victory over Nasinu Secondary School with a lone try in the second half secured them the title in the Southern Zone
Weet-Bix Raluve U16 competition last Saturday.
Reƞecting on the tough match against Nasinu and their loss in the pool game, Drakusiwale emphasised the team’s dedication to rectifying mistakes and strengthening their defence which ultimately led them to triumph in the Ɲnal.
Despite winning by a narrow margin of Ɲve points, the coach acknowledged the need for further improvement as they advance to the national quarters to face formidable opponents.
“It was a challenging match, as we had previously lost to Nasinu in the pool game, however, we identiƝed our mistakes, worked on our defence, and came back strong for the Ɲnal,” said Drakusiwale.
“Even though we only won by Ɲve points, we need to improve our game before the national quarter-Ɲnals.
“Our kicking game and back line need focus and improvement; our motto is to keep moving forward and have fun while playing rugby.”
Drakusiwale expressed conƝdence in their ability to reach the Ɲnal and emerge victorious against any opposing team they encounter.
“As we head into the national quarter-Ɲnals, we are prepared for tough opponents with determination and hard work, we believe we can reach the Ɲnal and emerge victorious.
“Qualifying for the quarter-Ɲnals with our U19 team is a signiƝcant achievement for the school.
“We call upon the support of Naitasiri fans and family to come out and cheer for our team at the nationals.”
